Generally, you must clean your AC indoor unit’s filter monthly. However, this is not a thumb rule. The frequency at which you clean the filters will depend on how dusty or polluted the environment is. More pollutants and dust will mean the filter clogs quickly and these blockages affect the unit’s efficiency significantly and you will need to clean the filters more often. Installation of a clean return air filter can reduce the system’s energy consumption by at least 5-15%.
It also helps improve indoor air quality, as there are no dust particles circulating indoors. When you clean your air conditioner’s filters regularly and get the recommended maintenance done by qualified technician, your air conditioner will function efficiently and function well for a longer duration, saving you money in the long term. If the filters have deteriorated, it might be better to replace them with a new filter.
We offer cleaning services for filters, along with preventative maintenance services.
Further to this, we also offer G4 rated air filters approved by the National Asthma Council Australia’s Sensitive Choice® program and air sanitisers proven to improve indoor air quality and comfort. These filters are a replaceable filter option that ensures your system is operating at it's peak energy performance, while offering drastically improved indoor air quality.
We recommend that you book an air conditioning service at least once a year. An annual comprehensive assessment and air conditioner service will ensure optimal efficiency.
Emperor Air Pty Ltd can design a customised contract specifically for you, ensuring that we set the reminder of any upcoming services and automatically attend, unless we are advised otherwise in advance.
A maintenance service will generally cost from $160+GST per visit, which includes the call-out fee and the service on the air conditioner system, with discounts applied to multiple systems.
Discounts may apply to recurring customers and pensioners.
A typical air conditioning system will be made up of a handful of standout parts that can and should be regularly maintained by you.
Here are some tips on the most effective and simple ways to take care of air conditioners include:
On average, installation can take approximately one to two days. The time taken will depend on the amount of work that needs to be done. If all the areas are easily accessible, we can complete the work in a day or less. However, with larger duct networks, it can take up to two days. It’s best to consult a qualified, experienced and reliable air conditioning team for an accurate estimate and quotation.
During a site inspection, our team will survey the site and take into account the size of the property, the age of the space, type of AC and the local climate, before providing a timeframe and quote for the job. We believe in transparency in all our dealings with our clients and provide you with all the information you need regarding the various brands and types of ducted air conditioners.
If your air conditioning system has been installed correctly, you should never have to re-gas it. However, if the pipe connectors are not fitted correctly or tightened to the appropriate torque it can cause a refrigerant/gas leak. On occasions the refrigeration pipework can degrade over the years for inexplicable reasons and cause a leak. Due to wear and use, pipework, fittings and components the nature of heating, cooling and vibrations can also wear surfaces and create a source of a refrigerant leak. These are the most common reasons you may lose a gas charge and require a re-gas. Refrigerant gases do not expire or go stale and air conditioning systems do not consume refrigerant.
If your air conditioner isn’t functioning correctly or you suspect there is a gas leak, you should get it inspected immediately. Speak with our experts and inform them about the issues you are facing with your system. A technician will conduct a thorough inspection to determine where the leak is and will repair the problem as quickly and efficiently as possible. Delaying these repairs and checks can reduce the life expectancy of your AC unit.
If you want to enjoy maximum efficiency from your air conditioning unit, its best to operate the AC at 21-11 degrees during the winter months and 25-26 degrees during summertime. This will ensure you get maximum energy-efficiency from your Ac system. Many of our clients also ask us what temperature is ideal when they are sleeping. This, of course, is a personal preference, but 22 degrees is the ideal temperature at night.
However, if you want to reduce your energy consumption and cost, consider following the guide mentioned above. Therefore, if you typically set your air conditioner to 22 degrees during summer, change it to 25 degrees and you will reduce your daily AC energy consumption by more than 20%. You will still have comfortable indoor spaces, while reducing the impact on the environment and bringing down your energy bills. When you maintain the system at a moderate temperature, your system will also operate efficiently for longer.
Air conditioning works by cooling or heating your home, creating a comfortable living environment by filtering the air and removing the moisture, which causes humidity. The principle behind air conditioning is simple. Two coils, one inside your home and one outside are connected by pipes filled with refrigerant. This fluid is pumped through a circuit of pipes by a compressor.
The two fans pass air over these coils. During the cooling cycle, warmed refrigerant circulates through the outside coil where it releases heat and cools down. It moves back inside, and is circulated through the indoor coil. The hot air inside your home is blown over this cold coil where it cools down and in turn, cools your home. During this process the refrigerant warms up and moves back outside to repeat the cycle.
Cleaning your filter is one of the utmost important parts to maintaining the system between annual preventative maintenance services. This not only helps maximise the life-span of your system but also its running efficiency. Dirty filters result in less air passing through, which means your condenser will be working harder, increasing your total energy consumption.
It is always important to clean your filters regularly to remove dust and debris built up that could potentially compromise the materials integrity.
This is one of the most common service call issues we see; once the filters have become compromised the dust and debris can be easily sucked through the material and into the condenser unit, which then as a result can lead to a number of faults and issues with the system, such as blocked drain pipes, water leaks and even potential fan blade jams if the material itself is weak enough to be sucked through entirely.
We advise all of our clients to clean their filters every one to two months depending on over all usage of the system. We recommend hosing the filters, or giving them a light vacuum, carefully however, as powerful vacuums can damage and sometimes rip the material.
Airclean filters are a new product offered at Air-Max, the new design allows end users to leave their filters for up to 12 months without a routine clean!
The lifespan of an HVAC system depends on various factors, including the type of system, how often it is maintained, and how well it is taken care of. However, most HVAC systems last between 10 and 15 years.
We offer a range of HVAC maintenance services, including filter replacement, duct cleaning, coil cleaning, refrigerant level checks, and more. Regular maintenance is essential to keep your HVAC system running efficiently and to prevent breakdowns.
During a HVAC installation, our technicians will assess your space and recommend the best system for your needs. They will then remove the old system, install the new one, and test it to ensure it is functioning properly.
